I started with Scott in April and have seen huge advancement in endurance, strength, appearance, and overall health. I’m happy with the results (and I still train with Scott so I’ll continue to see improvement). I’ve lost 30 pounds, 9% body fat, and can see my vastly increased muscle tone in the mirror. Comparing my workouts today to when i first started is almost a joke.
His regime isn’t only for working out but for health and diet too. He’ll casually greet you with a “how’s your day” which may seem like small talk but he’s also learning about your daily habits, and using that info to personalize a diet/lifestyle plan to help you be at your best at all times. He definitely follows the “teach a man to fish” mentality of preparing you to independently maintain a healthy lifestyle.
If you’re interested in getting fit, healthy, and learning how to sustain it, and wish to have that instruction tailored to your own personal abilities and body type, then Scott and the SY performance program are a very good choice.
Scott is the final piece of the puzzle in helping me get back into shape and stay there! He truly caters each person’s workout to what they need, to what their goals are and to what they can achieve.
I told him on the first day that I never had any expectations to have a body like his. It’s not in the cards (or the genes!) for me. My goals, as an almost 50-year-old man, are to be toned, to make sure my core strength is solid, to have good physical stamina and to regularly get a good dose of cardiac conditioning He is completely comfortable working with me to achieve all of that. Scott’s also comfortable taking an overall view of the situation — to talking about your diet, your sleep patterns and other choices you’re making during the day.
He’s got a great demeanor. He’s interested but never pushy in his questions. He’s got a great sense of humor and can appreciate my giving him some playful attitude at various times. He’s warm and engaging and doesn’t just push you for the sake of pushing you or for some sadistic thrill that I’ve witnessed in other trainers. I highly recommend him!
Scott Yonehiro is a gentleman that I have had the pleasure to be associated with for the past 13 years of my life as my personal trainer, motivator, mentor, older brother figure, and friend. Scott has had nothing but a positive effect on my life and fitness from the day we first met.
Together we’ve experienced MANY hard days at the gym, and MANY heart felt conversations. Scott is a fitness professional to the upmost caliber, but with a personal touch that a price tag cannot be placed on.
I am not shy to say that when anyone asks me about personal training, diet planning, sport specific exercise, or any other fitness related question, I forward that inquiry straight over to my good friend Scott at SY Performance!!
Scott has, hands down, the most motivating persona I have ever come across. His positive spirit and helpful health tips are just a couple of things I love about being around Scott. I have witnessed his handiwork on a few of my good friends and have seen the amazing results his motivation and hard work sculpt on their physique. Scott is the best kind of trainer because he makes the workouts fresh and fun. He really seems to go that extra mile for his clients and truly, in his heart of hearts wants everyone to succeed in their fitness goals.
I couldn’t recommend anyone any higher than I do Scott Yonehiro. His dedication to educate and motivate is really seen in his documentary about his 90 day challenge to carve out his fit rocken body out of the blubber he forced himself to paste on to his body by doing everything he preaches not to do. It was incredible watching him gain those ugly fat pounds just so we could all watch his body transform over those 90 days. What a sacrifice that was. I can’t even imagine letting myself step backwards into old habits that cause unhealthy side effects…and then watching my figure be buried under layers of visceral fat. I would be scared I would not be able to get back to my former healthy self. Scott showed us that he really believes in what he does and trusts his method to bring about the results he promises. He is just amazing.
I am incredibly thankful for Scott and his team of trainers. CanSer devastated my body a few years ago and I have struggled to get it back. (yea, I know it’s spelled wrong. just a lil’ extra eff you, canSer…I don’t even spell your name right. ) With a combination of good exercise routines, rest, and nutrition, they are getting me whipped right back into better shape than before I got sick. Scott is always willing to answer questions and is like a walking Encyclopedia when it comes to physical fitness. The trainers are respectful and mindful of my unique needs and I am always reminded that I am Ohana.
Between SY training and my own personal dedication, I’m takin’ back the bubble butt canSer stole from me.
Thank you, SY Performance Academy!!!
Scott Yonehiro and the entire staff at SY Performance are AWESOME! They are knowledgable, friendly, and FUN! I have worked with Scott before and after surgery. He helped me trim down prior, and helped me ease back into my workouts after. My results after 9 months were amazing-I went down 2 pant sizes! His energy, enthusiasm, and genuine love for what he does shows in the results of all his clients. His positive reinforcement is key-no one wants a crabby trainer-Scott ROCKS!
I decided to try Scott’s Corporate Wellness program earlier this year, and I have to say the results have been fantastic. My company is exploring different options for motivating our employees, and fitness/nutrition was one of our choices. Not only were we given a fantastic deal, but the SY Performance program has gotten our employees in good shape physically and mentally. Less people are getting sick as often, and productivity is at a high. I really can’t say enough. Thank you!
Scott is an awesome trainer not only does he work with his trainees but he also takes the time to help me out with my questions on fitness and nutrition!
Scott you rock brotha!
I did one of the 90 day challenges back in 2010 when Scott first started this program. Before starting the 90 day challenge, I was struggling with making time to work out and eating right because I was working full-time and a single mom, so I found many excuses to let my health go. And honestly, I did not like working out at the gym because I didn’t like to lift weights and didn’t know how to use the machines or what to do at the gym. So when I found out Scott was starting this challenge, I decided to join and check it out. During that 90 days, not only did I have great results with my weight loss and with strengthening my body, we also had a lot of fun with the process. The trainers really know how to make working out fun.
Two years later, I am back training with Scott, but this time when I contacted him, it was because I was completely stressed out about life; I knew I needed his expertise and motivation to get my life back on track. This time I was seeking a healthier body and clarity in my mindset as opposed to just losing weight. I love many things about the SY Performance model, but I find that Scott uses a lot of mindset techniques where his training goes far beyond eating right and working out. He really focuses on how you think about your self image, about life, about food, about all your strengths and weaknesses, about what you want in your life, how you want to live your life. SY Performance really does focus on your overall well being and not just your body.
I’ve been working out with Scott for 8 months now and I love SY Performance. Scott is just an all around super awesome dude, but each of the trainers I have met and worked out with have been friendly and upbeat as well as very knowledgeable.
I got engaged in January and decided shortly after that I should add “getting into better shape” to my wedding to-do list. I figured, why wait, I need to start an exercise regimen now. I wanted to feel better on a day to day basis, and I want to feel confident and be at my best on my wedding day. Most importantly, I wanted to do it right and I knew I needed help to stay motivated and keep on track (it’s easier to make it to early morning workouts when someone is waiting for you at the gym).
My fiancé had been training with Scott for years and he suggested that go to him. At first I wasn’t sure that I was looking for a “manly” weight lifting type trainer. In the past I took some yoga and spinning classes. I was wrong, working out with a trainer is not just lifting weights and it’s not too “manly”. Scott works me hard, I sweat, I get sore, I get a great workout, I actually have a good time, and I LOOK GREAT!
